Evaluations for Gender-Affirming Care

Gender affirming medical interventions can be an essential and life-saving component of care for trans and gender expansive folks. Unfortunately, navigating the process and getting the necessary documentation can be a challenge. I hope to make that process easier by providing mental health evaluations at a flat fee.

In Texas, it is generally required that individuals seeking gender affirming surgeries undergo a mental health evaluation to be cleared for surgery, but there has not always been a clear structure for these evaluations. I am trained in using the Gender ASSET to provide evidenced based, structured evaluations for individuals preparing to undergo gender affirming surgeries. Evaluations are typically broken into three segments: gender history, mental health history, and surgery preparedness. The length of time for an evaluation varies from person to person and often depends on the type of surgery, so the flat fee allows us to take as much time as needed to complete the evaluation. The evaluation does not include therapy. If it is determined that therapy is needed before completing the evaluation, we would pause the evaluation until we determine it is appropriate to continue and you would not be charged for the evaluation.

In the state of Texas, it is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to seek out gender affirming care. The above services are specifically for Texas residents who are 18 and older.
